Info: Cody McCasland
Cody's Story:
Cody McCasland was born on 2nd October, 2001 through urgent cesarean section. He was just 34 weeks old when doctors decided to deliver him through a C section as the amniotic fluid was declining and the growth of Cody McCasland was not increasing at all. At the birth of Cody Mccasland his doctors knew that things were not quite right. A double amputee Cody McCaslaand through the knee is known well in North Texas and to some extent the rest of the country. He has appeared at Oprah and Ellen’s show. He is 7 years old with no legs but one of the most courageous child World has ever known.
On 13th March, 2009 the first grader Cody McCasland was photographed by an Italian news photographer “Oggi”. Cody’s mother Tina McCasland said that he is very excited that people want to know him, he totally loves it. She also said that it is wonderful for me to see that my 7 years old boy “Cody McCasland” has a great impact on peoples with disabilities.
Cody is Tina’s first child and he has several problems from his birth and the biggest of all was that he was born without knees and bones in both legs. His both legs were amputated when he was just 15 months old, but that new born has his own plans for life by adapting to prosthetic legs in a very early age he made people think again with disabilities. He has legs now which help him to take part in sports like athletics and hockey. He loves to swim though his prostatic legs cannot be used in water he don’t mind using his arms while he pushes himself in the water. He is a competitor swimmer and his team “Texas River Sharks” hopes that his swimming will eventually take him to London, UK to compete in Paralympics when he is 10 years old. Cody McCasland can be seen in local races arranged to raise money for local hospitals, like Scottish Rite Hospital in Texas, Dallas, from where he got his prostatic legs.
In 2009, Cody looks forward to competing in his first Muddy Buddy, supporting CAF, an IronKids Triathlon, UCO Endeavor Games, National Junior Disability Championships, San Diego Triathlon Challenge, Dallas White Rock Marathon, and in competitive swim meets during most months. With the financial support from CAF, all of those dreams can become a reality.(Source)
